October President's Update

October President's Update

My esteemed friends and fellow members,

As I write this article, my thoughts are drawn to the famous song lyric by Bob Dylan: "the times they are a-changin'".  I am sure by now you've taken note of the lack of events on our calendar.  It is my sad news to report that after many years of hosting our monthly dinner meetings, Antonino's has shut its doors.   We are grateful to Antonino's for their many years of partnership and are sad to see them close   The sudden loss of Antonino's has left us scrambling to find a replacement venue for the remainder of the year.  Finding a new location for our meeting has been difficult.  Most venues require either a large room fee or a head-count commitment that makes the financial risk to the chapter too great to be viable.   The Board has worked tirelessly to find a venue that will limit the financial liability of the chapter in the case of low meeting attendance, but will provide the high quality our member's deserve.   I am pleased to announce we are close to finalizing the arrangements and you will see event information in the next few days.

Earlier today you should have received an email from our nominating committee regarding the upcoming Executive Board elections.  It has been one of the greatest honors of my life to serve as your President, but it's time for a fresh perspective and new leadership that will carry our Chapter to new heights.  I strongly urge each of you to consider serving on the Board of Directors.   I have directly benefitted in my personal and professional life as a result of giving back to our members.  Serving among the most dedicated volunteers in the region has made me a better person, a better leader and has opened up significant career opportunities.  We all benefit from the diverse voices that each of you bring to our Chapter and I encourage you to give back to your profession by helping to guide us into the future.

PMI global is undergoing a dramatic transformation that will bring fresh opportunities and changes right to our Chapter doorstep.  As part of this transformation PMICIE needs to re-imagine our Chapter logo.  This is an exciting opportunity and the Board and I are looking to our members to assist in creating this graphically expression of our Chapter.  Early next week we will open up a contest seeking proposed designs for our new logo.  The winner will earn an Amazon gift card and bragging rights!  Stay tuned for the details.

The future of PMICIE is bright but it can only remain so with your continued support and participation.  I look forward to the incredible things we will accomplish together and hope to see each of you at our November event.
