January 2025 PMICIE Chapter Monthly Live Online Event
Presentation Title
AI and the Future of Software Development Careers
Presentation Speaker
Rob Myers, CSAT
Principal Agile Instructor & Coach
The Agile Institute
Presentation Abstract
As Artificial Intelligence (AI) Large Language Models (LLMs) begin to take over more and more software development activities, what is there left for us mere humans to do? Plenty, Rob Myers believes (or hopes), though what that might look like will require a re-evaluation of roles on software development teams.
In this presentation, Rob describes his vision for a bright future, where people collaborate with LLMs--and each other--to provide high-quality and valuable software. Though unintended consequences are--by definition--unpredictable, Rob suspects that we will neither fall victim to Skynet's Terminators nor will we all become the lazy couch-potatoes portrayed in Wall-E.
The following Learning Outcomes will help software developers:
• Think in terms of concrete examples and turn those into executable specifications
• Use AI and LLMs to to streamline software development deliverables
• Understand how to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Human Intelligence (HI) together
• Re-evaluate current software development team member roles
So join Rob Myers and other PMICIE members and software developers to learn how you can make your projects more efficient and effective, and transform your workplace.
