The Chapter has a number of openings that require volunteer effort, or you may wish to volunteer your services in a particular area in which you have a talent and a desire to assist the chapter. 


Why You Should Volunteer


Whether you are a new or seasoned member of the PMICIE Area Chapter, one of the ways to get to know people in your profession is to become involved. Volunteering within our Chapter is not only a way to enrich your membership experience, it also expands your professional network, improves your knowledgebase in a low-risk environment, and most of all it’s fun!

As a volunteer with PMICIE, you have the choice of volunteering:

  • as an individual contributor which is comprised of specific assigned tasks by a team leader or
  • in a leadership position, through which program and business management leadership is applied to enhance career opportunities for yourself and others.

Are You Ready to Get Involved?

Volunteering opportunities with this Chapter are open to all members of PMI and the PMICIE Area Chapter. 

There is no requirement for prospective volunteers to hold certifications or to have extensive project management experience. 

We look for professionals who can commit to the following guidelines and help us in providing a professional and successful experience for all volunteers and member owners:

  • Participation should not be for self-serving purposes, promoting personal agendas, or for political or direct commercial gain.
  • Work with integrity and respect for others.
  • Acknowledge, respond to, and complete commitments in a timely manner.
  • Work with minimum supervision while accommodating a geographically disbursed team.
  • Participate actively

Become a Featured Event Speaker

The PMICIE Chapter Dinner and Virtual Meetings provide featured speakers opportunities to present a topic, in line with a project management area or discipline, in which they excel, to a specific target audience of project management professionals. The PMICIE monthly meetings are attended by Chapter members and guests. Monthly meetings provide a forum for networking and promoting project management services, tools, and knowledge to project sponsors, project managers, and team members. Our Featured Speaker package includes:

• A link on our website prior to the event. 
• Announcement and Biography e-mailed to our distribution list prior to the event, as well as posted on our website.
• Complimentary meal at our dinner meetings for the main speaker.

How to join PMI® California Inland Empire Chapter:

Step 1. Become a PMI® Member

  • PMI® offers 3 types of membership options – Individual Member, Student Member, and Retiree Member. Learn more about each type of PMI membership. Identify the type of membership you are seeking and follow the online process as instructed. When you apply for membership with PMI®, you can join PMICIE at the same time or as a separate transaction. (Note: PMI is also very good at walking you through this over the phone.)
  • After you have created your account, make sure to check back frequently and utilize the full benefits of what PMI® has to offer. It's important to remember to keep your email address current with PMI® on your mypmi.org profile as that information is passed on to your local Chapter(s).

Step 2. Become a PMI® California Inland Empire Chapter Member

  • If you have not established an account on the PMI website please revisit Step 1.
  • To join the PMI® California Inland Empire Chapter, you must register and pay your fees through PMI.org directly. Your Membership records will be updated and the California Inland Empire Chapter will be notified of your membership.
  • To pay your fees visit the following link (below) and follow the PMI Marketplace instructions. (Note: The annual Chapter membership fee for each type of membership varies. Student membership is open to any student enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited or global equivalent, college or university).

 

Step 3. What you can expect after registering

  • After you join PMI you can begin utilizing online resources, customer support, or subscribing to a rich genre of information. Check out PMI® benefits.
  • After you join the PMICIE Chapter, you will automatically be added to the California Inland Empire Chapter roster. You may begin using your benefits and your PMI Member # almost immediately to save money when registering for events, becoming a part of the local PM Community, or networking with other local area members.
  • IMPORTANT NOTE: 
    At the moment, due to reporting and website challenges, you may realize our PMICIE.org login does not work . Please know that we are working to activate this feature and hope to have it resolved sometime soon. How to Renew

Renewal is just as easy.

  • To be proactive, PMI® California Inland Empire Chapter recommends renewing 30-60 days before your membership expiration. All you need to do is:

    • Log-in to https://my.pmi.org and renew your membership, or
    • Follow the Step 2 above and add it to your shopping cart while in the PMI Market place.
  • Note:PMI has incorporated a shopping cart format, and will show your PMI Membership renewal, as well as the renewal for any component groups or CoPs in which you are involved. When you are all done your receipt will show in your “My Orders” section on PMI.org.
  • It is that easy… and you retain all the benefits of your PMICIE Membership such as: Dinner meeting discounts, guest speakers, special events, PMICIE news, volunteer opportunities, PDU discounts, professional development training opportunities, and much more! Don’t miss out! Keep your edge!
