Presentation Abstract:

We all know how important networking is when it comes to developing our professional careers. The trick is to concentrate on the networking techniques that give you the most "bang for the buck". Although there are many networking techniques available to individuals trying to expand their professional networks, perhaps the most effective technique is volunteering.

 In this presentation, Kevin Reilly will share with you the reasons why volunteering is such a successful networking technique. In the context of his own personal volunteering and networking success stories, Kevin will provide tips on the benefits of combining volunteering and networking, on how to select a volunteer organization that fits your networking goals, on how to leverage your volunteer time to include networking time, and finally on how to market your skills and expertise while volunteering.

Speaker Biography:

Kevin Reilly has been working in the IT and Software Development industries for over 24 years as an Agile & Traditional Project Management Practitioner, Trainer, Coach, and Speaker, with extensive SDLC experience. He is currently focused on working with cutting-edge IT and Software Development teams as an Agile Project Manager and Scrum Master to help companies increase their competitive advantage, as well as working with aspiring PMPs and PMI-ACPs as a personal coach to help ensure their PMP and PMI-ACP success. 

Kevin is an Adjunct Instructor for both the UCI School of Extended Studies and the USD Professional and Continuing Education Project Management Certificate Programs. As a trainer he has taught numerous PMI Chapter Programs, Public Programs and Corporate On-Site Programs, as well as being consulted on Agile and Traditional projects exceeding $570 million in the Retail, Healthcare, Transportation, and Information Technology sectors.

 Kevin possesses a B.S. Degree in Business Administration and a B.S. Degree in Computer Information Science. He has served as the PMICIE Chapter's V.P. of Programs, V.P. of Marketing, Program Manager and Speaker Coordinator. He also previously held the position of Vice President of the San Diego Oracle User Group, and volunteers as an Ambassador for the Temecula Valley Chamber of Commerce.
