Overview

An invigorating discussion about managing cybersecurity risks by applying guidance from the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK). Project managers gain hands on practice investigating a Russian “social engineering” email campaign, plus detecting and avoiding phishing scams and other website trickery.  Learning Outcomes:

• Understanding managing cyber-risks through hands on examples
• Establishing successful cyber-risk management processes

Speaker Biography:

S. D. Nelson is a computer security specialist with over 10 years experience.  Clients dubbed him "Nelson the Global Geek" because of his reputation for completing tech projects on-time and on-budget in Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia, and South America. 
 
As a PMP, he leads teams from 5 to 100 technical experts with budgets ranging from $100,000 to $5 million.  From 2009-2015 he won Sciex "best team" awards and received many customer endorsements for cybersecurity and validation of computers, networks, and pharmaceutical laboratory equipment.  Prior to that, he supported research into security for the NASA Curiosity Mars Rover and unpiloted drones.  Microsoft and Bellagio also trusted him to safeguard web apps and databases.
 
He earned a Master of Science in Information Security and has taught computer security in corporations and at Jiangsu University of Technology in China and Western Governor’s University in the USA..
